Yes, but you might not know from the way I dress. I do have some neat 'tie die' clothes, including a beautiful hoodie my husband (who is too young to have been more than a 'wannabe' hippie), but I am STILL a hippie because of my memories and because of the things I find important now ... which are basically the things I found were important then, too.

You betcha! Not quite the same cultural effect as in the 60's, but some are still there.
See below for Wavy Gravy's homepage.
Lots of other hippies have cut their hair, lost the floppy-bottom pants and tie-dye shirts. But the hippie values, albeit diluted with family and paycheck-related responsibilities, are still there.
The second cite below takes you to some video links.
Peace! And have a mellow-yellow Christmas!

Depends on your definition of hippie.
Here's a couple:
--"someone who rejects the established culture; advocates extreme liberalism in politics and "lifestyle"
--"a usually young person who rejects the mores of established society (as by dressing unconventionally or favoring communal living) and advocates a nonviolent ethic; broadly : a long-haired unconventionally dressed young person"
Word origin:
c.1965, Amer.Eng. (Haight-Ashbury slang), from earlier hippie, 1953, usually a disparaging variant of hipster (1941) "person who is keenly aware of the new and stylish," from hip "up-to-date" (see hip (adj.))."
Now, given that, I'd say that yes, there are hippies EVERYWHERE. If you're looking for the cliche image of hippies from the Haight-Ashbury circa 1967, wearing homemade granny dresses or multiply patched jeans, beads and headbands, then you're only likely to find them at a masquerade party.
Places such as Santa Cruz, CA; Berkeley, CA; Eugene, OR, have some continuity from the time of the original hippie movement: the mere existence of People's Park in Berkeley; Eugene's Saturday Market (since 1973 officially) that acts as a microbusiness nursery as well as a weekly event that enlivens downtown several months each year--and doubtless more examples across the country and the world--exemplify the spirit that the "hippie movement" spawned.
The Green Party, Earth Day, the Clean Water Act, California's public-access law regarding coastal beaches...all of these owe much to the thoughtful examination of habit and commerce that the era brought.
And if you just want tie-dye anything, then you need to be at Eugene Saturday Market's Holiday Market, where you can buy anything tie-dye in patterns from the U of Oregon O pattern in Ducks' colors, to tie-dyed tighty-whities or rolls of toilet paper.

Yes!! there are hippies yet!! But they are in disguise. You will know them as older baby boomer type folks who like to play online games (that's as far as their pc knowledge will take them). And they are still the ones who rebel at the gas pumps, spit at the utility companies, and burn their AARP cards. But you will always know them for the free spirits they have always been. They still fight to legalize pot, even if its for medicinal purposes and they still have the attitudes of that great generation. They're the ones fighting for lower prescription prices and accessability, They're the ones working at the Food Banks Find them everywhere, they usually dont harbor unfounded prejudice and lean toward the common man and the poor. Yeah, we do exist!!

"hippie" is a media-made term and just a label you slap on anyone. I suppose yes, there are still people who will refer to themselves as hippies.
