Mind you I live in NYC, so I can handle a little bit of grit. I'm looking for a place to buy a home to rent out for a few years until I am ready to move. I have visited the area but always to vacation, so I am not as familiar with the suburbs. I've found homes online in the 200-250 range that looked okay, but I don't know the neighborhoods. Thoughts? Thanks.

There's alot of traffic in Miami, no matter what part you're looking at. I grew up in NYC, and have to admit I was shocked to find the traffic worse here than back home. Also, the drivers are extremely uncourteous, and there are no cell phone laws while driving down here, so every time you drive, you need to pray you make it back without getting into an accident.

As for less-expensive areas...Miami has gotten costly, but there are neighborhoods that are for the wealthy, and ones for middle-class. Kendall, Kendale Lakes, Westchester, South Miami, and Miami Springs are decent neighborhoods for the money.

there is no such thing in Miami. LOL I live in Kendall, I consider Kendall the nicest place of Miami (besides the rich places around the beach of course) but Kendall is expensive and full of traffic, so if you find a place that is nice, inexpensive and with no traffic call me up!

Miami-Dade County is the size of Rhode Island. There are hundreds of different neighborhoods. Nobody has time to catalogue them for you. Ask about particular neighborhoods & you'll get answers.
