It depends on who is president. If a republican is president, they will attempt a responsible solution and probably become sidetracked by democrats in congress. if a democrat is president, they will simply increase taxes.

Social Security has been a political foot-ball for a long time. Both parties seem more interested in using it to gain votes rather than fixing the problem. When or if it fails you will see a lot of very angry people and that is when our government will see that we might be old and slow but we can still go to DC and make life very unpleasant for a lot of politicians.

Republicans had control of the executive branch and legislative branch for 6 years. If it was such a failure why didn't they fix it?
But don't worry, it won't fail. Republicans will just borrow more money from China, that seems to be their solution for everything.

The entire economy collapses, because if Social security bottom's out, it means we have such high deficits, we can't pay them off.
So keep spending that money overseas.
You'll be thanking yourself you supported it, over a can of catfood, when you are 80. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to afford a 10 lb bag for Thanksgiving? hmm

Excellent question, for sure the next president whom ever they may be will have to deal with that question whether they want to or not.
