This question cannot be answered without pressure and temperature relationships. According to an old text of mine, basalt metamorphoses to a greenschist, an amphibolite or a granulite.

Basalt or stilstone can turn into Hornfels , a fine-grained, tough, dense, rock, through contact metamorphism. It resembles basalt, but is finer grained.
