My husband and I married very young and for many Christmases could not afford to exchange gifts. We also had lots of hand me down furniture for which we were grateful. After being married for 10 years, we were finally able to afford a house, but things were tight. On Christmas morning of our first year in the house, my husband handed me a plain white envelope. Inside was a picture of the suite of bedroom furniture he had purchased for me. I literally cried for ten minutes, unable to speak and barely able to breathe. Now it seems like a simple thing for him to do, but at the time I could not imagine where he came up with the money or how he was able to pull this off without me knowing. It will forever remain the best Christmas gift I ever received.

The most expensive gift I have ever given was a trip for 2 to Mardi Gras (which as it turned out, was the last one before Katrina) It include air fare, hotel and the use of my credit card for 5 days. My daughter and her friend really loved it.
I think the most appreciated gift I ever gave was the travel alarm I gave my father 30 years ago. Every few years he reminds me how much he loved the thought and tells me how many different countries it has been in. For my father to thank you even once for a gift is great, but many times in a thirty year time span is absolutely great.
Merry Christmas!!

I gave my son a marble chessboard worth over $1000 a couple of years ago. This year he is getting---wait, he reads my answers---it's a secret. But he probably knows that it ain't gonna be any $1000 gift this year...tho my girlfriend suggested I give him a $1000 gift card at Best Buy---I don't even have a quarter of that right now...
Yeah, it was the nicest Christmas gift I have ever given...

I had a very bad accident while serving in the Navy in 1995. I spent 2 years in rehab. My dad was the one who took me to the VA 3 times a week, and the other 2 days, to do mall walking early in the morning! (I was in a wheelchair for a long time!)
Last Christmas, I bought him a large picture of Shea Stadium. (He's a big Mets fan!) It was autographed by Gary Carter, Mookie Wilson, Lenny Dykstra, Ray Knight, and Keith Hernandez.
It cost $500, and was worth every penny! It is now hanging in the hallway for all to see!

I think the most expensive gifts I bought were last year-- the X-Box for my son and a Kitchaid Mixer for his wife. I gift I loved the most and still have--my son bought me when he was 5--a necklace--on a yellow cord with Bert from Sesame Street--Daddy tried to tell him it wasn't a "Mom present" but he insisted because - "Mommy watches it on TV everday with me"---it came with a homemade card of Garfield cartoons pasted on construction paper (I still have the card too!!!). He's given me many lovely things since then--but I love my Bert necklace!!!

in case you may cope with to pay for it, and you're very close to to the guy, particular. while my sister have been given married, i bought her a $one hundred present set from the physique save. i think of it is the costliest present i've got ever given.
