I have been a hard core liberal for years, but I love some of his ideas. He also seems like a cool dude haha.

Because of people like the first poster, who believes our whole government should revolve around Huckabee. If you vote for him, it is one more vote for not believing in evolution, crackpot ideology, and isolated ignorance.

He seems like a nice guy, yes, and he seems to be level-headed on some issues. However, he may not exactly be the perfect guy the Republicans are looking for, judging on some of the stuff that's been in the news (even though he's in the lead), and I doubt many Democrats will vote for him in November.
I guess you could say he's "the kind of guy you could have a beer with". Please note the President Bush got this same honor in 2000. Look how that turned out.

The only problem with your choice is that the only two states he will win is Iowa and South Carolina after that it will go down hill.
So from idealist point of view I understand why you feel the way you do. Unfortunately, no one outside the bible belt will support him. So you will probably be throwing your vote away.
But there is no reason not to vote your conscience anyway.

I am also a Dem who likes Huckabee because of his policies and values. His past record of helping others speaks for itself.

Because he is less of a candidate. He is a smooth talker, says all the right things. He is well known in Ark. for his all talk, no show theatrics. He may talk a good talk, but is he willing to put his money where his mouth is ?
