Normally I would advise you to put your thesis at the end of the first paragraph and use two or three sentences to lead up to it. That's a little hard in this case. Clearly, your thesis is going to be a sentence saying what grade you think you deserve. (Tip: Unless you're going to say you deserve an A, say you think you deserve AT LEAST whatever grade you're going to ask for.) It's how to lead up to it that's the problem. You could begin by saying that it's hard ot evaluate your own performance and why, and then transition ("But since I'm being asked . . . .") into the thesis.

You didn't ask about the body of the paper, but since I'm here, you could have a paragraph about what you learned in the class and what, if anything, you developed a greater appreciation for; one enumerating your test and essay grades (and, if they don't average out to the grade you want, pointing out why they're not fully indicative of your performance); and maybe one on your participation and contribution to class discussions. You decide which of these is your strongest argument, and make it the last paragraph of the body.

Now all you need to do is sum up your arguments and remind your teacher why you deserve the grade you asked for.

well if it's a normal essay than it would have to have 5 paragraphs. Start your opening paragraph with exactly what you are talking about. So say something like: I believe I deserve a 90% in this class. Now tell what you are going to be talking about in the 3 body paragraphes. Then you should have your thesis which kindof sums it all up.
