I hear people who support "date your race only", but I don't hear the reason. Why should I ONLY date my race?

I will add the reason why I date outside my race after this question is asked.

I post this question to see how people would respond. I
'm attractive to all men, all men are sexy to me. I do have a favor for heavyset men(chubby/fat).

Heart261: That was mean, but that doesn't mean I don't like black men.

Heart261: That was very mean.

That's bs. Thank God for interracial dating...I wouldn't be here! My bf is half Lakota Sioux and half black. I am black, cherokee, navajo, and tuscarora. Date whomever you please.

Okay, playing devil's advocate here, I think the best and least racist answer for your question is this:

When you date inside your own race, you may be less likely to prejudge the person positively. If you're a Black woman and you hear all these negative things about Black men that motivate you to date outside your race then you may end up with someone substantially worse than the Black man you might have otherwise chosen. Prejudice against your own race and for another would cause you to make a poor decision. Your negative prejudices against your own race might move you to be more selective and hence get a better mate than you would if you chose a person who you automatically gave "points" to because of their race.

Personally, though, I say go for it.

Hi Sweetie!

Well, I haven't heard it much. I don't think you should date in your race only.

First of all if you date someone, you'll know his personality and nothing matters once you two fall in love. But Let's analyze it. This is my personal view. Think I am a White Guy, be it an American or British. If I date someone other than from my Race, whenever I go through hard times and unintentionally, out of anger I tell something related to my spouse's race, It would feel very embarrassing to my spouse. In short, This is Called Racism. So, I don't think supporting dating in same race is bad. But, from the bottom of my Heart I would say, Just go ahead and date anyone YOU LIKE. I feel the society today is more matured to discourage racism. What say?!

the general reasoning behind it is a shared culture and value system, and also social acceptance. Racially mixed couples can be harassed for it, and sometimes the cultures clash a little. For instance A friend of mine grew up in a southern African American family and he eats traditional soul food a lot, collard greens, hush puppies, fried okra. His girlfriend is traditional Korean so a lot of steamed dishes, fish, fermented soy products, etc. So they often cook separate meals though they have found some foods they agree on.

I'm Ojibwa and Korean and my girlfriend is Caucasian. Thankfully we both like a variety of foods so fewer problems there, but sometimes we have big cultural differences. For instance I go home regularly, to help out with chores, take care of my younger siblings who are still in the house, and call at least once a week. She goes home for major holidays and calls when she needs something or is planning on visiting. Sometimes she'll get upset that rather than going on a date, I'm visiting family.

The same goes for the fact she never really goes to church, and I attend Sunday mass, holy days, etc.

It works out so long as both are willing to compromise and neither is trying to force them to adjust to their culture.

I hear that too, "keep your race pure".
People's superiority complex promotes it.
Whatever.

Aside from potential issues of genetics causing health concerns or pregnancy failures, not unlike "mixing" certain blood types, there's no important reason.
There are some issues of cultural differences that can hinder a healthy relationship. And society can make it difficult.

Do what's best for you.
Do it because you want to, because you like the person. Don't do it just for spite or status or fad, nobody appreciates that, especially your partner.

I don't believe in only dating in your own ethnicity but some believe that the relationship will fail because of differences and that people will make it difficult to be together. Others say that it isn't fair to the children that these relationships produce... claiming that the children will be confused as to their origin (what?!) and again be thought of as a strange person.
I hate stupid people.

I think it's an old school mentality or a mentality of those who are 100% one race. It could be pride, maintaining a culture, prejudice...etc., etc. Since transportation over the last century has become so available and cost effective...whether for work, school, military, leisure...racial lines are getting more and more blurry. I'm white (welch, german, and irish) and I think blurring these lines will continue...and it's a good thing.

Date whoever you want. As long as you are dating within the human race and you are happy, you're doing good.

No reason. If you are not attracted to blk men, or the way alot of them act, date other guys, do what you desire.

You should date only inside your race if it is what makes you happy. If it doesn't don't. But know one should have to nerve to tell you date within your own race because it is something they subscribe to.
