I'm a peer educator, so I always have condoms in my locker for people who ask me anyway, but can I hand them out without hiding from security guards or administration now?

I know a kid who got suspended for giving out condoms because any sex ed that didn't ONLY promote abstinence was illegal. (That hasn't stopped the health teachers =P)

Cite a source please, if you can. =)

Apparently if anyone LITERALLY distributes condoms or any other thing that promotes protection (instead of abstinence) that's considered "sex ed" and that's "illegal". Even when have a table for World AIDS Day, we aren't allowed to HAND people information about HIV testing, etc; they have to take it off the table.

It's sooooo stupid.

Great question, but honestly, I think you need to take on your principal and your administration at the next PTA meeting or gathering. Challenge them! Get a straight answer out of them before you do something that will get you into trouble.

Wow...you're quite the activist on the move. In the perfect world, you'd be running for prez! Keep up the good work.

Why would they suspend a kid for giving out condoms? He wasn't giving them out in any official capacity was he?

Seems to me that you are in the clear if you're not part of the faculty or the board or if you're giving them out under the auspices of the sex-ed program.
