the vin plate is missing, will i need a vin number for a truck that old? i live in virginia.

look for a tag on the inside of the drivers door

I assume the origial vin tag is missing, it should be on the lh front door 'shut'. I've got a '50' and the plate was worn out/unreadable.
It should be on your registration document.
Alternatively try contacting www.stovebolt.com there are plenty of folks there who may be able to help

You should have it on the reggie, or title, if it was a title state, or look for a tag under the ignition coil, or last hope: look in the seat like in the back. That's usually where they put the shipping order.

Could be on the bottom of your windshield, driver side. Look from the outside. :-)
