Hello, recently while driving my car at speeds roughly between 60-80mph I have gotten the feeling that I either abruptly took my foot of the gas, or slightly tapped the brake - it's not a hard braking feeling, just a sudden lag ... it's weird. The tac, mpg meter and spdo all are normal with no movement - it's only happened about 10 times the past week (I drive 80+ miles per day). Not sure what this could be - any ideas?

Sound like a quick misfire in the engine. Go t oa do-it-yourself car wash and shampoo the heck out of your engine bay (use Gunk, original) Examine all rubber intake tubes for any leaks. If this model has a distributor cap, remove it and examine the inside for signs of cracking, or whether or not the central spring loaded carbon brush is in place and not worn out. How many miles?? You need a thorough tuning at 100,000 mile intervals. ALso clean out your PCV hoses and your idle air control valve. If there is a lot of sludge in your engine, it could be your hydraulic timing chain tensioner that needs to be cleaned as well. Do this simple test: Remove your oil filler cap, and turn it over. Whatever you see here is what the entire inside of your engine looks like!! If the tiny oil passageways in your tensioner are clogged up, the pressure inside can drop and make your valve train hiccup. E-mail me for the foolproof way to de-sludge your engine, if you like. You should be using only Mobil One 0W-40 oil, or Pentosin in this car. Also use Mobil gas to keep injector pintles clean. Good Luck!!!!

Somewhere along the way they went to this drive by wire system. It has a hesitation problem - like when you are doing about 30mph and you demand sudden power (like in passing) the car totally dies. It hesitates about 3-4 seconds before it accelerates. I totally can't drive the car. I gave it to my wife. The 99 toyota gives me what it has when i demand power. Much better behaved car.
