It's best to use legendary pokémon SPARINGLY in your party when competing against other trainers.
A trainer that uses a lot or all legendary pokémon are considered poor trainers as they're compensating for their lack of skills with brute force. Sure, they're likely to win... but that trainer doesn't get the respect of others.
A trainer that uses one or two legendaries would be considerable opponent as there's likely a strategy involved with them.
A trainer that elects not to use any legendaries is likely to have a strong combat strategy, but could be decimated by the strong attacks of those legendaries... However, if the trainer can defeat a group of legendaries, give that trainer some space with their mad skills!
Again, the best advice with using legendaries is "USE SPARINGLY!"

Why would it not be ok to use legendary pokemon? They were put there to be used.

Some people don't mind. I along with several other people think it's cheap, and for lack of a better term, noobish.
Personally I don't plan on battling with people who use any more than one, and I won't ever use them for a competitive battle.

they arent very solid because of the fact u seize them at lvl 50+ frequently. that makes it much less relaxing to coach. i exploit them for elite 4 and instruct off purposes they actually arent that particular besides different than darkrai and arceus which u want some form of cheat

YES!!! It's fine to use it...y else would they have it...some people don't like it and others do...if u don't want people buggin u about it, u should just have it in ur PC for show, u should also not use it for battling other people on Wi-Fi...unless u want to cause it's ur choice
