absolutely. I thing the young talent coming up is going to be awsome. I have been out to Scranton and have seen some of these guys play. I can't wait. This is the most excited I have been about a season in a while

sure they do, they have a chance at finishing third in the east!!!
look, you are a yankee fan, can you tell me what the yankees did in the first half of the season? right they tanked
and in the second half of the season, can you tell me what teams they got to play the most? right the royals and the rays
now, can you tell me how the yankees have improved their team over the offseason? right they didnt
all theyve done this offseason, is basically fire the main reason for their amazing run of success, replace him with a mostly unknown commodity, and spent huge sums of money to bring back the exact same team that flopped and barely made the playoffs last season
in the meantime the red sox have pretty well stood pat, so they still have to be considered a better team than the yanks, and with the tigers, angels and rays improvements, the yanks just cant be put in the top 5 anymore
i believe that they blue jays will beat out the yanks for second place in the east, the rays will probably challenge the yanks, and the yanks may finish fourth, they will loose sight of the red sox early and theyll never be in wild card contention, cause they are either old and tired, or young and mostly untested

Not a real shot, no. They have the oldest starting line up in baseball and A-Rod is NO team player. They have a mix of old ineffectve pitchers & Young inexperienced pitchers. They're bullpen is STILL a mess and their closer takes 2 months to get warmed up before he can actually start effectively closing games. They have a new manager who has only managed in the NL with young inexperenced players who would actually listen to what he thinks. Their owner's son is an idiot loudmouth that can't shut up and their GM is being crushed under the pressure of trying to rebuild a franchise while being shut down at every turn by the owners. i think that effectively answer "why" they won't have a shot in 08'.

When was the last time the Yankees did not contend for the World Series? Thirteen, fourteen years ago? I will wait until I actually see a bad or even just an average .500 season from them before I count them out as contenders.

i truly believe the yankees are not going to be world series conteders. the top teams in the al include:
Tigers (dtrain and cabrera made an awesome point from detroit saying we want to win now)
Red Sox (they are dominant and with santana they would be scary)
Twins (as long as they dont loose santana, or get a really good deal)
Angels (the angels are a much improved team from last year)
The problem with the yankees are that they lost pitching with roger the rocket roids clemens, and roids pettite.and that they resigned arod. arod is an amazing player but the problem with him is he is truly another barry bonds (not a team player) and he is bad luck like David Beckham (david beckham is a great player but he is unlucky when it comes to championships)

I'm one of the biggest Yankee fans out there but if they dont get some serious backup behind Joba and Co., they will be done for the next 10 years maybe.
All thir other pitchers are getting too old and they need some new, fresh faces.
GO Yanks!

With all of the money the Yankees have, there is always reason to believe the Yankees have a shot. But I must say they must do something about their pitching in order to challenge any of the better teams in the league.

The Yankees are a team committed to wining and ownership is willing to do what is needed each year to give them every chance to be competitive. Because of this it is safe to say that the Yankees could win any given year.

Its a big question mark we need to find big improvements on the pitching rotation,I think pitching and defense is key for the Yankees gains in obtaining a contendership in the 2008 playoff sans Torre I don't know for sure but who knows they might have a shot with the younger talent especially Joba Chamberlain.

right now, no. They proved this year that they dont have a world series team much less a playoff contender. They havent gotten anyone and if the red sox get santana kiss the east goodbye.
