make coupons that have things he can redeem with you. they can be a simple as 1 back rub or whatever you want more explicit things too (i bet he will appreciate that) then get him a gift card to something he enjoys

What does he like? Gift cards are great, but don't show much effort into thinking of something that would be special....it's like handing someone cash. Some might like it fine, but some might like to think that you have thought about them some.
