Chrysler is American as apple pie. It incorporated it's self with a German company a few years back, but has returned to now being all American. Back in the late 70's, it incorporate with a Japanese corporation called Mitsubishi, but they dissolved partnership before Chrysler became partners with German's Daimler Corp. Chrysler started out way back I believe in the 1911 when a man named Walter P. Chrysler from Kansas started a car manufacturing plant. In the 20's,and 30's he toted his cars as being tough enough to be driven off a cliff and surviving and in an advertisement campaign did just that. A Chrysler was pushed off a cliff, then rolled back over on its wheels, and driven away. I'll bet you can't do that today! Chrysler bought out American motors who owned Jeep, and another sports car Manufacturer in Germany that was I believe Maserati. Chrysler use to build tanks for the army, but sold it's rights when it was re-structuring in the early 80's. Hope this helps.

Chrysler LLC is an American automobile manufacturer that has been producing automobiles since 1925 and from 1914 under the Dodge name. From 1998 to 2007, Chrysler and its subsidiaries were part of the German based DaimlerChrysler (now Daimler AG) after an arduous deal falsely sold to stakeholders[1] as a "Merger of Equals" in 1998.[2] Prior to 1998, Chrysler Corporation traded under the "C" symbol on the NYSE. Under DaimlerChrysler, the company was named "DaimlerChrysler Motors Company LLC", with its U.S. operations generally referred to as the "Chrysler Group".

The Crossfire was based on the previous generation Mercedes SLK (chassis, engine, transmission, and most of the interior), so that particular car is/was German, the Dodge Sprinter is also basically a Mercedes van (turbo diesel and all), although I'm not sure where it's assembled.

The other Chrysler products are made in North America - and the company is no longer owned by Daimler.

Chrylser is owned by Cerberus, which is a privately owned AMERICAN company. Chrysler was owned by Daimler for 10 years, but a large amount of share holders were American, so it wasn't even completely German then either.

Well - good question. They were owned by Daimler Benz, and part of DaimlerChrysler (and the Germans were calling the shots) but the corporation just didn't do very well with it and sold it off to a private equity group called Cerebus Capital.

For the most part, you can say it's a North American company, with most of its production here, though I'm not sure if they're still producing vehicles in Austria.

Now that the firm has been sold by Diamler to an American financial concern it can truly be called a U.S. company once again. However, that may change. A Canadian firm - Magna International - is looking at acquiring the Chrysler. If that happens it (Chrysler) will be a Canadian company. Wouldn't that be a kick-in-the-head?!

Chrysler is now American..Reference the remark about Toyota, Hyundai, BMW, Kai "Build Here" There is a big difference between build, using local sourced parts, and "assembled" where 90% of the product is imported and assembled.
Which do you think really supports the US economy!!!
