does anyone think that the higher ups in the giants or the organization. Realize that barry would be up for his steoid indictments(or are we now calling it performance-enhancing drugs?)
Does and one else besides me think that is the real reason that they chose NOT to renew his contract? So they would not be tied in to the current mess that he has brought on it.

Just wondering about this. all coments welcomed.

Of course the knew the indictment was coming down - the grand jury had its term extended through this fall, so it was fairly obvious that they were going to do something.

I don't think that's why the Giants didn't bring him back, though. I think it had just reached a point where he was more of a liability than he was an asset. They kept him in '07 because he was coming up on the home run record and they wanted him to get that as a Giant, but the steroid cloud has been over him for years and, not to put to fine a point on it, he's kind of a jerk and doesn't do much of anything to promote the team off the field. Once he had the record, there was no longer any publicy they could wring out of Bonds. Though he still has power (probably due to continued steroid use), he can't handle daily playing time anymore and never could field well. For what he brings to a team, there are a lot cheaper options out there that don't have as many negatives.

Steroids aside Barry is getting old and he is no longer what the Giants need. Don't get me wrong I love Bonds, but at his age he is very prone to injury and needs to rest so many games a week. He is an amazing batter but not a reliable player for the team, plus he is a bit lazy in the field. Last year he brought the Giants a lot of publicity with breaking the record but now they need some fresh bloode.

Homeruns are the portion of baseball that brings exhilaration. American society loves rapid consequences and the HR is the quickest thank you to attain a run in baseball. i'm not sure why Hank Aaron is seen great different than he submit with racial subject that are actually not seen in baseball today as he appraoched Babe Ruth, the main frequently happening parent contained in the history of the sport. Hank Aaron additionally holds the checklist for many RBI's, greater base hits, finished bases, and consecutive seasons with one hundred fifty or greater hits (17). Aaron had a profession ave. of .305 that's solid sufficient for the HOF yet no longer great whilst in comparison with different greats of the sport by potential of any potential. This does grow to be a great stat once you study it to different sluggers which often hit for decrease averages. EDIT for Steve E: What info is there Barry has ever used steroids? 2 Federal Grand Juries did no longer indict Barry, meaning there grow to be no longer even a average possibility that he used steroids whilst listening to in basic terms the prosecutor present his case (protection does not get to present something for the duration of a grand jury study). The feds are actually focusing on attempting for an IRS conviction...that's the equivalent of we now have not something so we could make something up because of the fact the tax code is a few distance too complicated or maybe specialists gets diverse consequences every time. Baseball has been study "steriouds" meaning Barry for over a 365 days now and that they have got no longer something on the guy. for the duration of those study Barry retains hitting HR's at an fairly good %. for his age. After final nights video games he grow to be in a tie for 2d place for the NL HR lead, one at the back of the chief. This sounds greater like capacity then the rest. FOR SABEL: Sorry to declare yet final time I checked there grow to be in basic terms one member of the 5 hundred/500 club by potential of an prolonged shot and that's Barry Bonds. Hank Aaron is likewise tied for the main AS video games with Willie Mays.

Simply put he broke the record as a Giant which is what they wanted, record accomplished they need to win - they need to rebuild, get free agents -- they can no longer afford Barry's price tag - Got mad love for him but this is business.

Not at all. When someone wears out their welcome and their baseball defensive skills start getting weaker, that's when professional sports teams begin thinking "younger and more capable".

The Giants are smart for not offering him another contract! I see them improving because the distraction is already gone and they can start anew in spring training.
