Just ask one of your friends to lend you theirs. That is the cheapest and easest way to go.
You may or may not loose all your pictures.

Yes you can buy one from yoyr computer manufacturer.Eg:from dell,samsung,acer....Btw you can google it out coz there are some agents out there doing it also.It will cost you about $50.Just contact the manufacturer and you will get a new one.

Yes,you will lose everything in the computer once you reboot it with the reboot disk.

And you cannot borrow it from your friends coz every reboot CD is done in a way where it will only work with one laptop.

no but you can get a student liscense. They cost about $100 last time I checked (it's been a while) I would ask some of your geekier friends if they know a guy who can help you. Usually a repair install of XP can be done pretty quickly (a couple of hours)

Good luck!

If it is a Dell, or a big name brand usually you can call tehm and ask for anotehr one for cheap.

If it is from a no name place that no longer exists, go to www.microsoft.com/genuine and I'm pretty sure they can help you out just using the code from the sticker on your machine.
