Legal Services will not help with this issue. The County Bar association does not always provide a good match. So far, I've tried the Yellow Pages and the Internet. But no luck so far. They either say that they don't handle my type of case or suggest the Bar Association.

PS: I live in Northwest Indiana (near Chicago). A Chicago attorney may not be licensed in my state.

you literally ask everyone you know and meet the following question: [after explaining the situation more than you did here]

"Who do you know who might be able to help me find the attorney I need?"

It is critical that you ask who they know who might be able to help find ... not if they know such an attorney.

my question asks them who they know who is well connected and knowledgable about the local business scene.

the 2nd question [do you know such an attorney?] is almost always answered "no" and then their brain shuts off.

what you have to do is follow up by reaching all of the possible names you're given and ask them the same question.

every local store you shop in has a manager. most have landlords. some are locally owned. dentists, physicians, the nail salon, the dog groomer --- all of these either have a local attorney or have some idea of how they'd find one if they needed one.

social clubs, recreation locations, the florist, and on and on
