What's TWW?
They're not organisms, you know.

They're just single cells and don't have any capacity for independent thought, so it's not like they're "waiting for the egg." That's like asking what you're blood cells "do" while waiting to exit the body when you bleed?

I believe they're just propelled by the momentum of the ejaculation to go foward toward the egg. They don't swim, but rather the tails guide them and some kind of small ionic attraction guides them toward the egg. I wish i remembered the source, but someone did a groundbreaking study on this in scientific american or something+

They just keep swimming. They only stop once they sense the egg.

That is why sex too early is not good. the sperm will use their energy and not have enough to penetrate the egg. 2-3 days before ovulation is ok, but not ideal, since majority of sperm only live 3 days, while some strong ones live up to 5 days.

it sits and wait in a section of the body that holds the sperm and not let it leak out, then they dart off in different groups and try to penetrate the egg. The egg decides who gets in....thats what I learned. I hope I am right

They swim around until they are mature then meets the egg. They will not touch the egg until their mature enough, that's what I read about it because I am TTC.

Don't listen to those other idiots sperm does not wait on the egg! Sperm fertilizes the egg! It just keeps on fertilizing until the fetus (new born baby in stomach) is developed!

They don't " wait", they try to break thru the egg, if they do not succeed they die quickly.

They sit, chat, relax, have a coffee and ponder what they will do if they win the race.
Sorry! Just a bit bored!

What I think is that they are searching for the egg. Constantly. And if they don't find it, they'll eventually die.
