i know it makes up our muscles hair and skin...but i need more info for my essay.

Proteins are essential to the body. Protein builds up, maintains and replaces or restores the tissues and organs. Our muscles, organs, and our immune system are made up of protein. Our body uses the protein that we eat to make lots of specialized protein molecules that have specific jobs. For example, our body uses protein to make hemoglobin, the part of the RBC's ( Red Blood Cells) that carries O2 to every part of the body. I hope that this is useful. Enzymes are all made of protein.
Structural proteins build body parts like hair and nails.
Proteins in the blood carry oxygen.
Proteins give us immunity.
Proteins in the muscle cells help them contract.

Proteins will build and repair muscles and bones...
and enzymes are also proteins which are the things that speed up chemical reactions in our body
