That's absurd.

Any player who didn't treat that ball with the utmost care has little respect for what they accomplished.

That's a historic artifact, and I don't believe for a minute that his dog ate it.

He says he's keeping the pieces... let's see them.

COME ON! No one really believe for a second that this is true, right? He's clearly joking with the media, he has the ball and it's probably sitting right next to all the other trophies he has like his 1st strikeout, 1st win ball & his TYIB CLOSER OF THE YEAR award. I can't believe anyone cares about this, he is obviously joking around. What's next, are people going to ask if he was insulting dancers with his "jig" during the playoffs?
It's called "having a sense of humor" and anyone who is taking this even a little bit seriously needs to go get one of their own!!!

NO- it's as stupid as Doug Mienticwz saying he kept the ball from Boston's last championship in a safe deposit box because he wanted to perserve it for the fans. This ball will turn up at a later date and for big bucks.

If it's true it really makes me dislike him. Why not give that ball to a huge Red Sox fan who would treasure it forever if he could care less if it becomes a chew toy?

If the story is true it shows Papelbon doesn't have much common sense.
