"He" probably gets the kind (and volume) of emails he does because the series has been running long enough to gain a reputation. That said, it's been done now, so if you were to try and start your own "Ethan Emails" series, it'd probably be decried as a "me too" imitation. Your best bet would be to try to find an original take on the idea, such as having viewers send in (very) short stories and animating those in unexpected and humourous ways. You might have to make up the first few yourself until people take notice and start sending in their own.
