I was driving and all of a sudden it felt like it ran out of gas. I got it started but it ran rough after that. I know it was low on fuel, so I went and got some gas, and it still ran rough. So I will start small and increase my efforts to minimize cost. Any other helpful information is appreciated, thanks.

your fuel filter is either in back of the gas tank or on the drivers side just in front of the rear wheel and I would suggest that you add a bottle of Lucas fuel injector cleaner to the gas tank.

Under the car, towards the rear, on the passenger side. I believe... I change so many fuel filters a week its hard to picture where are in each car but I did a LeSabre last week and I thnk thats where it was. One side the line is just clipped on, the other side, you'll need a 5/8 or 16mm (same thing) wrench, and a 3/4 or 19mm (or 13/16 / 21mm... now that im thinking of it) wrench to bolster it.

well since your car is a 1988 there might be a build-up of rust dirt and other things in the tank and driving it to near empty would have caused these things to to enter the fuel line and get trapped in the fuel filter maybe plugging it up....that is where i would start...at the fuel filter...change this before you ruin your pump and see if the car runs any better
