...treat women a little better than the other guys or the opposite? My father was an alcoholic and was beating my mother, I think that's why my brother is VERY polite and understanding against women.

How about other guys who grew up in a troubled home? Just curious...

I dont know..I think it can either be two extremes.
I knew a guy, his parents abused him and his sister, and he grew to be protective of her. So he is protective, gentle, and polite towards all women.
Some people, however, are abused and thats the only thing they grow up learning- hurting people and things physically when they are mad. They never knew better.

I would think it depends on who the child follows after. If he's on the side of the one being abused, your theory is probably right. But I know a few people who grew up in troubled homes that are, now, troubled themselves.

The real honest answer is, it depends on the person. People who have been abused and who witness abuse constantly have a likelihood of mimicking behavior they saw modeled at home, but some people fight past that and never do anything of the sort.
