Well, believe it or not. It depends on the version. That is why you have been getting conflicting answers. I now own Zone Alarm 2007 and can't wait to get rid of it. I bought it because zone alarm 2006 received high reviews online. However, if you look it up on amazon, you will see scores of dissatisfied users giving it a low ranking with one common complaint: The new release is much worse and is a system resource hawg. I frankly think it is worse than the viruses it is protecting me from.

I owned at one point in time or another all of them. I found Norton to use too much resources. Found McCafee to be on the expensive side compared to others. I had good luck with Trend Micro and used it for 4 years. I did not try the new version of Trend Micro but if they stayed consistent, then it struck good balance between protection and resource utilization.

The main issue you need to look for is resource utilization. High utilization will slow down your computer to unacceptable level. Your best bet is CNET review forum (google it up online) or Amazon reviews. Go there and read for yourself and then make your decision.

McAfee is a system hog. Don't know about Trend Micro's. I tried Zone Alarms free firewall version, loved it, bought the suite. ZA's interface is easy to use and is constantly searching in the background for viruses and spyware without hogging RAM. The only drawback to ZA is the pop-ups to allow or deny certain programs while ZA is learning your pc usage.

Of the three you mentioned Zone Alarm is best But I use the F-Prot Suite as it is ranked # 4 in the world with 1-2 and three being for commercial use only.

Mcafee is trash. Trend Micro is getting better, but zonealarm is definitely the best.

well u basically excluded all the internet securities. i have trend micro internet security and am pretty happy with it, although the loading is a bit slow but its not really a factor, i would say for protection trend micro is the best out there, it scans emails, spyware, adware etc.
