I've been apartment hunting and everything is HIGH!!! We want a one bedroom, my husband and I. A one bedroom runs about $900 - $1000. Right now we have a 1 bedroom plus office, kitchen, 1 bathroom, no living room for $650, but only because my aunt owns the apartment building! but its in a bad neighborhood. and we want to move so we can start trying for a baby. we want the baby to grow up in a nice area. WHY IS RENT SO HIGH!?!?!?!?!?!?! this is really discouraging :(

You could always get a job somewhere else. Believe me that whatever you do, there is a good chance they have that same job in another city or state. Surprise, AZ is a nice place to live and pretty affordable + everything is brand new there. You can rent a 3/2 house with 2 car garage for 850$ per month.

I used to live in LA County, and my rent went up 3 times in less than a year. The market and inflation are out of control there. That's why so many people are leaving.

You should of sent a check, then at least if this occured you could of stopped payment and wrote another check. Also you should of sent the money through usps and insured it and tracked it! Then its on the post office if it gets stolen. How can you be mad at the property office for your money order not arriving? What if you where in there shoes? You would feel the same way! But anyway, next time you send something as sensitive as money in the mail, pay a couple extra bucks and get something to protect you, ie delivery conf, insurance or signature upon delivery!

Rent is high everywhere. I'm in a small little no-name town in Massachusetts, 20 minutes from any major highway, and I pay $700 a month for a tiny one bedroom.

the housing market took a huge crash (remember?) and all those homeowners now have to rent because they lost the home to foreclosure, so they cannot get another loan...that puts the rental market in high demand and gets top dollar for rental property. Supply and demand...
