I ordered something off amazon on Saturday and it's going on 5:00PM on the 4th business day of shipping. FedEx got here on the 3rd day and was here by 1:30, what gives?

They generally don't. You ordered at the height of their shipping time--of course it's going to take longer, even the post office takes 2 days longer than normal right now. UPS has tracking, see where it is, the further it has to go from the place of origin the longer it's going to take. There's no guarantees on delivery in the last week before Christmas. Everyone knows that.

At least you didn't use Airborne/DSL.

The delivery times often reflect different pick up times and service classes. In your case, I am guessing the packages went ground which is the lowest service level.

I have run a shipping store for over two years. Overall, FedEx is the best carrier and you are much less likely to have a lost or damaged package but they tend to cost a bit more than UPS.

If you are purchasing a product from this company on a regular basis, maybe you can specify your shipping options if you give them a call at the time of order.
