I'd take the bus tour. The weather is not good up there right now, lots of snow. So let someone else do the driving, or you could be having a "Thelma & Louise" moment!

We booked our flight from the hotel, once we got there. We took the S. rim tour. They picked us up at the hotel, in the morning, and took us to the airport and we flew to another airport close by and they had a tour bus waiting. We also had a BBQ lunch at a hotel which was included in the price of the tour. Got back about 6pm and it was a good trip.

You won't be disappointed with the view.

good luck.

If you drive yourself, be careful. The road to the Grand Canyon West is unpaved the last 12 miles or so. If you do, make sure you get the insurance on your rental car.
