When trying to Kill with Kindness?

Sometimes today, kindness doesn't work, or turning the other cheek. I try both, but some people don't know or appreciate what a simple kindness is. They figure you are out for something.

Of course it's trying, we live in a world full of bitterness, selfishness, and violence. Some think the world has done them wrong and owes them something, others just think the world owes them something, and some are just down right out of control. It's trying because the norm these days is repay evil with evil, and repay good with evil. Even some, when trying to kill with kindness do it out of spite and vindictivness rather than love and understanding. (IE trying to get a rise out of you by showing that you can't bother them or get to them, but hoping to fuel the fire with "kindness" at the same time.) It's never going to be easy to be truly kind to someone who's nasty to you no matter what you do or say. Sometimes I find I have to dig my heals in and refuse to do anything nasty back to them no matter what they do to me. It can be exhausting, frustrating, stressful, and sometimes you just want to slap the person and shake them and ask them why they're so bitter and hateful. However, God says that we're to be long suffering as well, and that we should keep our minds and hearts protected from anger and vengeance and just know that these people will either seek the compassion of Christ that we offer them someday, or they'll kill THEMSELVES with bitterness and hatefulness. It's their choice, and it's your choice how to handle it. But, keep in mind that sometimes it takes years to penetrate somebodies heart with kindness and love, and sometimes it never happens.

Of course, There are some situations where it is actually painful to turn the other cheek but once the situation has passed you always feel better for keeping your cool!

Turning the other cheek may be very hard depending on the situation but you always have to be the bigger person and walk away..

Yes some people make it real difficult. I have A theory that if every action has an equal reaction (attitude). If someone is trying to tick you off and don't react in the same negative way it really burns them. (You are going against the laws of physics)

I find it very easy! There was a girl at work who disliked me for no reason. So I just started complimenting her every time I saw her. Her hair, clothes, EVERYTHING. After about a week, she started being nice back. It's been almost 2 years and she still runs up to me and tells me gossip and stuff and is very nice!

It can be a difficult thing to do, yes. I find it funny when I irritate them with kindness. It sometimes makes them angrier. I just smile and say Good Morning. They can have an attitude about it.

It's very hard. It takes more patience sometimes to keep your cool than it does to just let loose adn lose your edge. I've also found it to be hard to ignore those who mess with you and test you b/c if you ignore them, then they'll think you're a punk (chicken) and once they see that, they'll continue to target you (until you stand up for yourself)... so I see that it is a difficult situation.

NEVER turn the other cheek, that's for the weak.
Killing with kindness does work though a lot of times, but it depends on what you're talking about...
