...When you know it will be the last one

That's a tough one. Besides different scenarios as to why it's the last one (end of a relationship or going off to war & "possibly" being the last one) I guess I would just hug them and kiss them with all sincerity "good-bye!" So the last memory between us would be a pleasant one.

As to the saying a good-bye to someone going off to war it depends on your relationship with that person (a stranger, a family friend, a loved one, a sibling or a spouse). One thing I do to all Service personnel I see is to say "Thank You" as a way to express my gratitude for they are continuing the watch I left behind when I retired in 2005.

With a hug and a good bye...then one more hug.

I'm really bad at good byes.

I know it will never be the last one! I know we will meet again someday! It is written, so I say I love you, see you again real soon. Then I turn away and cry

I am debating that too. I have brest cancer and I'm supposed to die in a month. I think you just have to tell her that you love her and always will be there, every time you think of me and that every time you think of me I will be happier and happier in heven and not to forget me. Good-bye Alicia.

That's why I hate saying goodbye, it's too final. I would rather say See ya later.

Sad. you mean like dying or like going away and not coming back. If it's going away and not coming back you probalby will hug and cry. If it's dying you will probalby cry and tell the person how much you love them. Sorry.
