Russia is a major producer of oil; they have a lot of minerals, including some of those rare earth elements found ONLY is the USSR and South Africa. THAT was one of the reasons the Cold war stayed cold; one reason why the U.S. always supported South Africa. When they got something you absolutely have to have, you play their game.

Yes, Russia probably does have the most mineral resources of any country.

However, most are in SIberia & will be almost impossible to get to without major capital expenditures in advanced machinery and some kind of transportation infrastructure other than the Trans Siberian Railway.

Yes, they are well on the way to prosperity and greater power in the world. I've been learning more about it recently from some Russian friends.

THey have the most land mass...I'm not surprised they have the most natural assets.........They just can't get at them because they don't have the money to invest in equipment to get to it and process it.

1st- Russia is not even CLOSE to having the #1 amount of natural resources.. They fall a DISTANT, DISTANT third to Austraila, and then china.. so what are you speaking about.
