There's a couple ways to look at that question. Babies that age would usually sleep a total of 10 - 12 hours at night. It's not "straight" in that they, like anyone else wake up at various points in the night to roll over or stretch or whatever. Babies that "sleep through the night" still wake briefly between sleep cycles but are able to fall back asleep easily and maybe don't make a peep or need assistance from their parents. You might expect that a baby could possibly sleep 5-6 hours straight before a sleepy waking, but this would vary from child to child.

Every babe is different so the length of sleep time will vary from babe to babe.

My first started sleeping through the night, ie from 6:00pm to 5:00am at three months. The second one used to awaken twice per night for about 11 months then once for the next 8 months.

Perhaps you could also consider what meal you give the baby before you tuck him in. Remember sugars stimulate.

Hope to have the child sleep for at least 4 hours at a time! Good luck.

It really depends on your child. I can tell you from my experience (I have a 11 month old!) that my daughter has always slept throught the night. That could mean 8 or 10 hours. It just depends on if she got a nap that day, or if we were so busy she didn't want to take one.

I wouldn't worry if your child slept 8 to 10 hours. I would worry most about a consistent schedule, so that when your child is growing, he or she will also be dependable and make your job just a little less hectic.

It really depends on the baby. At that age, they still have immature sleep patterns with short sleep cycles, and small tummies that may need a feeding or two or three in the middle of the night. Teething, growing, and learning new things all can contribute to more frequent waking as well.

In my experience, both my babies slept through 12 hours straight at this age, with 1 or 2 two hour naps during the day.

they should be getting at least 10 to 12 hrs a night. The average hrs, of sleep for babies around that age is 14-16 a day. They may wake up at night, cause they are used to you coming in and feeding or getting them up, but if you break this habbit, they will sleep a solid hunk at a time.

After my son turned 6 months, he slept throughout the whole night. That's at least 9 hrs straight. It depends on how sleepy he is.
