Did Papelbon just leave the ball laying on the floor so his stupid dog could get it? I think it is terrible for baseball and history and I would be so pissed if I were the Red Sox. What do you think?

*Star if you agree

Good lord. There is absolutely no excuse for that. I'm just shocked that somebody, a player no less, could be so careless with an item like that. He should be punished and publicly ridiculed and humiliated for doing something so stupid. Tar and feather him, run him through bean town like they did in the old days.

It's Papelbon! Give me a break! If you actually think he let that happen, then you are as dumb as the reporter that even wrote the story. Knowing him, he probably just made it up to get attention and a rise out of people.

No player in their right mind would A. leave something like that on a table after it being almost 2 months since the World Series. He has too much respect for the Red Sox than to be that irresponsible.

B. Leave a piece of history lying around when he knows his dog chews on baseballs or how he claims his dog does.

I think that without jonathan papelbon, the red sox wouldnt have won the world series hence, the ball's importance would be moot.

They should have learned something from 2004 and asked for the ball right away. To me, once you allow them to leave the stadium with it, you are giving up your rights to it.

I find his explanation a little hard to believe that he left a world series winning ball on his counter. More likely, he stashed it and didn't want the same issues that happened earlier.

If it was for papelbon, there would be no need for the ball in the first place.

i'm a sox fan and i'm kind of disappointed that the ball was eaten, but its not really pap's fault. dogs like to chew things, its just their nature. someday we will laugh about this.

apparently he isn't to proud of his accomplishments. i would be proud to have a game ball from the world series even if i didn't earn it
