Forebear refers to one's ancestors.

Forbear (the word with only one "e") means to patiently restrain yourself from doing or using something; to deny an impulse.

Forbearance is patience; self control.

Kenneth G. Wilson (1923–). The Columbia Guide to Standard American English. 1993.

forbear (v.), forebear (n.)

Forbear, stressed on the second syllable, means “to refrain or stop doing something,” “to hold back,” “to abstain,” as in If you’ll forbear commenting, I’ll be grateful. Forebear (like its infrequent variant spelling forbear) is a noun, stressed on the first syllable and meaning “ancestor,” as in My forebears lived in Scandinavia. 1
