Yes. Even so-called "premium" after market brands. A few years back, I bought some expensive after market wires to replace my factory wires that were bad after 50K miles, and the new ones lasted about 15 months. I THEN replaced them with factory wires, which were cheaper and lasted another 50K.

yes if the cap and rotor get screwed up in the distributor if you have a misfire
if the spark plugs are screwed up it can draw a lot fo electricity and melt the wires

yes.spark splug wires can go bad after one year if you buy the cheap wires always buy the higher wires because they last longer
