even large families have pets. But yes, pets are nice for lonely people who live by themselves like me.

I think we are the sane ones! pets only know what you teach them, and dogs in particular only want to please you, and be with you. As long as you teach them well you have a friend for life. They don't answer back, and do not intentionally hurt you if you respect them. They can not use words to upset you! They say never work with kids or animals, and I'd choose both over adult people any-day!
Going through a real rough patch right now, and if it was not for my puppy keeping me occupied, I'd be in a right old state, and I would feel lonely, so maybe that is true!

i have 3 cats and one dog, and a ton of friends and family around me constantly. there is no way that i'm lonely.

false i have 2 chocolate labs and they drive me nuts, in and out..walking them playing with them.
I'm so tried just thinking about it I'm never lonely or bored
