The Trooper by Iron Maiden
It's about the Charge of the Light Brigade during the Crimean war. I love the way the band have written a song in which the music perfectly reflects galloping hooves. It really sets the scene! The lyrics perfectly reflect the initial feeling of courage and invincibility, then the fear as the charge begins, the horror of war, the pain of being shot and the realisation of death.
I know it's a morbid subject, but I get very bored of love songs as there's simply too many of them around!

What I Got
Sublime
Early in the morning risin' to the street
Light me up that cigarette and I strap shoes on my feet
Got to find a reason a reason things went wrong
Got to find a reason why my money's all gone
But I got a dalmatian and I can still get high
I can play the guitar like a mother fuckin riot
Life is too short so love the one you got cause you might get
runover or you might get shot
Never start no static
I just get it off my chest
Never had to battle with no bulletproof vest
Take a small example
A tip from me take all of your money and give it up to charity
Lovin's what I got
It's within my reach
And the sublime style's still straight from long beach
It all comes back to you you're gonna get what you deserve
Try and test that you're bound to get served
Love's what I got
Don't start a riot
You feel it when the dance gets hot
That's why I don't cry when my dog runs away
I don't get angry at the bills I have to pay
I don't get angry when my Mom smokes pot, hits
the bottle and goes back to the rock
Fuckin and fighting it's all the same
Livin' with Louie dog's the only way to stay sane
Let the lovin come back to me

"Nolita Fairytale" by Vanessa Carlton. (Check it out on Youtube.) It completely sums up my high school experience and the way I feel this year, my senior year. The past two years I had questioned everything about my life, feeling depressed and overwhelmed. So I decided to revamp it. I broke it off with my old "friends" and made new ones, who are wonderful in so many ways. I stopped letting the pressure of school bog me down and started immersing myself in my hobbies. Now, I feel like a new person, and that anything is possible. I found my "nolita fairytale."

The B-52s Love Shack is my all-time favorite song. It's kind of old, but has a lot going on in it. Try cranking it up sometime. I do and then behave in an unseemly fashion - I've got the kids doing it too. :)

I have to say I like everyone songs, even if they are bad cause you have to think of how much hard work they put into it. The writers have to write it. Think of how hard that would be for you to do. And the singers put hours of dedication into singing it.
