Everything involves a penis and vagina... im just curious what everyone thinks about how this came to be. If everything was to banch off and evolve in there own separate way, why is it that the way everything reproduces is pretty much exactly the same?

Mammals all had a common ancestor; the common characteristics of all mammals are inherited from this common ancestor. Things like warm blood, a four-chambered heart, live birth, and reproduction via a penis/vagina were all presumably present in this ancestor. (Compare: why do all the members of the Smith family have red hair? Because Old Great Grandpappy Smith had red hair, and passed it on to his kids). Some mammal might eventually go off in a different direction, but so far this really hasn't happened.

Other organisms have a different strategy - many (like birds and reptiles) use a cloacal vent (combination anus/reproductive tract). Be glad you're a mammal.

Things evolve out of necessity. The 'two-party' male-female system is effective and therefore, hasn't changed.

It evolved once in reptiles, and since then there has been no advantage to change it, so it hasn't changed.
