I went out drinking last night. Usually if I drink, I drink at home and I don't go overboard. Last night when I came home, my wife asked why I was out so late... I wasn't thinking clearly and I smacked her across the face and onto the couch.

I have NEVER hit her before and she is scared. She went to her sisters. I don't want to lose her over this. I have never raised my hand to her before. What can I do? I felt bad immediately, but my apologies were not enough. Please I need advice.

That's a good sign that you need to stop drinking! Not just for her, but for yourself, forever!

I hope she forgives you, but I heard that if husband hits you once, he'll hit you again at least one more time.

I suspect there is other issue's as to why your drinking so much?
That is the real question why are you that angry that you feel the need to drink all the time and then hit her?
There is something else that is going on that your not telling us.
I think you are hiding some built up anger.
You should also feel like a piece of crap and coward no man should ever hit a women.
I tell my son all the time be a man and if a women hits you hold her down but never hit her.

If a women ever hits a man a man should pick her up put her out the house and move on!

Hitting is a very bad sign on both parts.
Unless your a rotten kid that needs a good but whipping here and there.

Good luck!

Well your cowardly actions have made a bed for you that you are going to have to lie in now. You can try all you want to get her to take you back, but what are you going to do the next time? If you can't handle alcohol then quit drinking. If you have anger issues then go to counseling. You need to work on yourself first and then work on the relationship, because once you raised your hand to her you put the ball in her court and every decision is hers now. All you can do is plea your case and wait.

You not only hurt her physically, but mentally also. If you can't handle your drinking, then you shouldn't drink. Give her some time to think about this, along with yourself. Good luck, and I hope this works out for you, only because I believe you that you didn't mean it. Drinking isn't worth losing your wife over, and I hope you don't drink again.

Well first, you need to STOP drinking. Because obviously, you can't drink responsibly. Second, give your wife sometime, let her know you are sorry and you are at home waiting when she is ready to come back. She will. And remember, don't ever pick up that bottle again, if you do, it's divorce time.

it is not approximately eating interfering alongside with your thinking, it is approximately alcohol removing your inhibitions. in case you probably did no longer already resent your spouse, alcohol might desire to never make you hit her. it is basically an excuse and a refusal to settle for finished accountability. you're precise, apologies are actually not sufficient. If she is clever, you will lose her over this. you have blown it, and she or he will never believe you returned. meanwhile, quit eating altogether or you will probable repeat the undesirable habit. by the way, no person has particularly picked up on your headline "I harm my spouse." in case you "smacked her around the face and onto the settee" no longer basic sufficient to truly harm her, it is lots greater severe than countless the responders are suggesting. It probable constitutes attack and battery (a criminal)

If you cant control your your self when you have been drinking, then you have a problem. You need to stop drinking altogether, and go to AA. And your going to have to prove to her, that you are willing to get help, and change.

Funny, that's what abusers say. You think an apology is going to get you out of this one? Think again pal. You'll be lucky if she stays with you. I'd advise her to leave for good.
