I know how to do laundry, but the guy way.

I do have a nice hamper to put my clothes in but when it comes time to laundry I just grab everything in there and throw it in the wash.

I don't sort out colors or anything other factor. I just grab clothes from the hamper, put them in my laundry bag and walk to the other side of the apartment complex where the closest laundry machines are at.

Yeah I guess you can say I'm a bit lazy on the matter but I do want to preserve and have my shirts looks great.

After my washing (Always cold water only) and drying (One laundry sheet) I just grab the lot of the dried clothes into the laundry bag, lug that back to my apartment and sort them out here.

What I want is to have clothes where the black doesn't lose its "blackness", the color remains true, the texture doesn't mess up, etc.

Help?

You need to turn the darks inside out and use a detergent meant for colored clothes. Dry on a medium setting and get them out of the dryer and smoothed out asap.

I had a problem with 'color' issue, too. Once I didn't have a luxury of washing all my clothes separately, and I didn't have enough quarters or washing machines available at once to wash 'white' only of bright colors only, my clothes eventually got dull color. Now I own my laundry machine, I wash whites all together and blacks and bright colors at the separate time. It save the color longer. One thing I never do is to dry towels and socks together. It sure makes fuzzy stuffs on the socks. There is a new kind of laundry soap for dark color clothes. You should try the soap with color guard, too. Flipping the shirts inside out helps also.

Turn all your clothes wrong side out when washing and drying them, they sometimes turn in the wash so check them before drying and use a medium or low setting on the dryer. If you don't need the black items right away, consider getting a drying rack and hanging them to dry in your apartment. Drying in the dryer can fade color as well. (The life of your clothes is longer when you hang dry.) Hope this helps!
