just relocated to socal from Phoenix a few months ago.... best thing I ever did.

You will find a job doing something. Make sure you put $$ down on an apartment first. You will have to fly out first, rent a car and start looking at places.

for jobs it really depends on what you do. If your current employer does not have workstations there or wont transfer you, you may want to save enough $$ to live on for a couple of months. If you dont want to wait, you could get a job waiting tables so at least you have some money coming in while you are interviewing. Otherwise, send your resumes to potential employers (go to websites of local newspapers... there are want ad sections) set up the interviews within the same time frame, and make a trip out here to interview, find an apartment etc.

It is expensive to move out here but the opportunities out here compared to a place like Phoenix will more than make up for it in the long run

I would like to move to scottsdale from chicago.
However there really are no hi-tech jobs in AZ.
they have lots of service jobs.
Working at hotels, restaurants, etc....
Southwest is there.
The only really hi-tech is godaddy.
You also might find some work at Univ of Az. Huge school.

I love the fact that the weather is great. but you also have great weather in SD.

Also there is no traffic in AZ.
However being from san diego, your traffic is also nothing compared to chicago traffic. so that is not as big a deal as for us chicagoans.

I say "yes" move out of cali regardless because the whole state will be submerged in water one of these days. When? No one really knows the answer to that, as to when. Its a true fact that cali is slowly becoming less of a state because the fault line is indeed breaking more and more everyday. Once that fault line breaks all of cali will be under water. That alone sounds creepy and would be perfect reason to move anywhere but there. Best of luck with moving and your search for employment. GB!!

Hi rm333-

Why don't you amend or edit your question and tell us what type of work you and your partner are interested in. I recently moved here from Clairemont in San Diego so I've been through the process. Just give us some clues and we'll give you better answers.

Thanks and I'll check back later to read your updated info.

Start looking for jobs while your in San Diego and schedule interviews close together. Visit Arizona until you get jobs. All states newspapers is at the downtown library. Go to monster.com for jobs etc....

http://www.careerbuilder.com

That job search engine has A LOT of positions in the Phoenix area.

P.S. I advice not moving to Phoenix, move to a surrounding city like Chandler, Tempe, Gilbert, or even Avondale.
