Is Avenged Sevenfold and Malice Mizer evil bands? And also do you think it's ok for a Christian to listen to metal music?

Ive never heard of malice Mizer.
but I am a avanged sevenfold fan.
and I dont think they are Evil. just because their theme is skulls and bats does not mean they are bad.
They talk about god alot on their albums. and not in a bad way.
The song Dear God on their new album for instance.
I dont understand why God would judge someone for the kind of music they listen too. no where in the bible does it say "thou shall not listen to metal music"
and ACTUALLY. there was a study done that found that Country music is more about drugs and bad things then Rock music :)

Like in everything, do what the Bible teaches: "examine everything, retain the good."
I, personally, don't listen to those bands because I'm a big lyric freak and those lyrics don't really appeal to my tastes. As a father, I don't want for my kids to hear me listening to music that has cuss words in it - apart from the fact that my kids DO ask about band names and album titles; I don't want to explain to them: "You know how Jesus said that we needed to FORGIVE sevenfold? Well, this band's name tells you to do the opposite..." As a musician, I do enjoy the music - a lot! Not the lead singers, though. As much as I enjoy the screaming, I like to hear a little talent in my lead vocalists - these guys can scream... but lack profusely on a good lyric voice. As a Christian Pastor, I have no problem with metal music. In fact, there are some metal bands in our church - some of which conduct the youth meeting's devotional :-)
Some Christian Metal bands that I recommend (in no particular order):
- Extol
- The Showdown
- Devil Wears Prada
- Living Sacrifice (R.I.P.)
- August Burns Red
There are others, but these are the ones that come to mind right now :-)

The notion that any band is "evil" (unless they claim they are) is silly. The idea that music, or video games, or any form of art can turn a person evil is even more silly, only affects the smallest of children, and just plain propaganda. The turmoils of one's personal life, or a mental illness is what makes one insane. Otherwise almost every death metal fan would be a criminal, which is nowhere near the truth.
Do not question what is evil before you listen to it yourself.
"Judge not lest ye be judged"

What exactly is evil to you? I'm guessing you mean satanic..
I don't know whether they are 'evil' or not - but if you really have a problem listening to a band with different beliefs to your own then just listen to Christian Rock because you don't seem willing to take the music for what it is. If you like it, listen to it - why should their views or beliefs matter?
edit; just to add to Jacob F's list. As I Lay Dying is another good Christian Metal[core] band.

The band you named are not metal and they are not evil, they try to act evil but they aren't they are a bunch of idiots! It's ok for a christian to listen to metal. They can listen to christian metal! Stryper & Virgin Black!

I am not a huge fan of Malice Mizer, but A7x is great!
Their songs are so AMAZING especially Almost Easy!

I'm a christian and I listen to whatever I want. Its ok just as long as you don't let the music influence the way you live. But just listening to it to enjoy the music is ok.

Isn't there christian heavy metal like stryper? sorry, I'm not a metal fan, so I can't help you.
For what it's worth I know christians who listen to punk and they don't have a problem with it (in fact, Bad Brains is religious and they rock!!!!
You need to make up your own mind, and not ask other people to do it for you.
