as I was turning my oven on, the black knob came off...I dont know which is which, what do I do

Can you turn the knob at all? If so, turn it back to the OFF position (so the oven is completely off). Then, set the knob in place to where the OFF marking used to sit. The other knobs (if you have other knobs) should all sit in the off position in the same place.

Look carefully at the knob and the shaft from which
it came off.
Each will have a flat surface that matches the other
to fix the knob in the proper place.

you can get a oven thermometer to put inside but it takes allot of guessing i would try to get a new knob or put the old one back on in the off position

Buy a new knob or put that one back if it only slipped off.
