I think that it happened to me when I was 10, in the spring. And I remember one day, wanting to go to this one daycare program on swim day. I also remember a girl there. I ended up only going on a different day, and that whole week, I felt like something just ended. It was spring break too. I was kinda angry about not being able to go on swim day. Then I remember at the playground, there was a girl who reminded me of Linsay Lohan, (this was almost 9 yrs. ago) and I kept wanting to go back to the park every day. And when I was removed from my daycare, I got real depressed, and hated the new one I was put in. And got real mad when school started finding out I would have to remain at the other program. And when I was 13, I had my first proper crush, and I felt the same exact way. I forgot about being ten at the time, and wasnt sure why.

Yes. It's common and entirely normal.

Do not belabor the idea, most everyone at one time or another has had crushes on a person they just met or seen in their life. Many have passed me bye that attracted me to them and but for the inexperience of allowing them to escape into my past by not approaching them, I missed having a meaningful friendship. As you get older (and mature) you will find others and make contact.

Oh, I can certainly remember liking guys when I was in primary school. One of my sons was in second grade when he started liking girls. The other didn't noticeably like them until high school. It is perfectly normal. Sometimes children get a crush on a teacher too. So there are all kinds of combinations of feelings. We are humans and as humans we are multifaceted in relationships. It is normal as long as no physical or intimate behavior happens.

I've worked with children for a while now... and they can have crushes (as young as 2) the same as anyone else... the difference is how they think and act on these crushes.

It's common AND normal. Both of my brothers had their first girlfriends in 5th grade. Which was kinda cute, but they took it very seriously. They would call their girlfriends every night.

It was sweet.
