To be eligible to apply to UCs, you need an UC GPA of 3.0 or above (calculated using grades from a-g courses in your sophomore and junior years with up to 8 semesters of weighted honors/AP courses).

The up and down fluctuation of your grades raises red flags for admissions. You need to perform better in your junior year to prove to admissions that your grades improve over time.

You can see the profiles of admitted students to all UC campuses for Fall 2007 (detailed breakdown of GPA, SAT, ACT, SAT II, and other statistics) at: http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/educators/counselors/resources/materials/ITU.pdf starting on page 37.

Sorry, but the UCs are looking for GPAs over a 3.5 overall (at a minimum). Even the CSUs tend to want a GPA over a 3.0. Your best bet would be to bring things up while in high school so that you can do well at a community college. Then, after two years there, you can transfer to a UC or CSU.

Berkeley and UCLA expect around a 4.0... San Diego around a 3.9... and a rest around a 3.7 but you might have even had a shot at them with a 3.5. Realistically kid, your grades are too low. They won't even look at you if you have grades below a 3.0... that 3.84 looked good, if only you had improved from then.
