The McDLT was a unique idea. The bun side stayed cool while the hamburger side stayed warm.:-)

I use to love those and was sad when they took it off the menu. You are right. McDlt.
McDLT - The McDLT (McDonald's Lettuce and Tomato) was sold in a novel form of packaging.[2] The meat and bottom half of the bun was prepared separately from the lettuce, tomato, American cheese, pickles, sauces, and top half of the bun. Both were then packaged into a specially designed two-sided container. The consumer was then expected to finalize preparation of the sandwich by combining the hot and cool sides just prior to eating. The company discontinued the sandwich in 1990 due to the move away from the environmentally unsound styrofoam packaging which was integral to the McDLT "experience". The McDLT is perhaps best remembered for its marketing, which focused on variations of the theme "Keep the hot side hot, and the cool side cool." A 1985 commercial released to market the new sandwich featured a young Jason Alexander.
Merry Christmas.

Yes, in fact I worked there at the time. It was about 20 years ago. They even came out with a special (styrofoam) container which kept the 'hot side' (lower bun and patty) hot and the 'cool side' (upper bun and veggies) cool until the customer got it. It flopped for a number of reasons:
1) First and foremost, it was too labor intensive for the crew and thus not profitable.
2) Under the lights, even the cool side got too warm for people if it sat for more than 5 minutes; making them too order took too long and was not labor efficient.
3) Customers got frustrated trying to make the 'flip' to get the top side onto the bottom side - more often, the top would slip off onto the table, counter, or floor.
Actually, I just realized that was the McDLT. Dammit!
They might have had a McBLT though.

RE:
Did McDonalds ever have an item on their menu called the McBLT?
On the game show 'Temptation' today, they said McDonalds had an item called McBLT. I think they might be wrong. I know they had a *McDLT*, but how about a McBLT?

OMG! I love BLT sandwiches and I wish McDonald's had one because it would be so good with fries and soda. I'm pretty sure they never had a McBLT. I don't eat there all the time but every now and then and since I was a kid. I don't remember them ever offering it, but I really wish they did.

It seems I remember the Mc BLT , but not the Mc D LT. Whats the D stand for? The BLT is Bacon Lettuce Tomato, a common sandwich combination. But D? does it stand for , um, Deer, or Duck or??? I think you mis understood the name of the sandwich. It does sound similar, but BLT would be the obvious choice, given the definitions.

They actually have a Chicken BLT, but it's not a McChicken or McBLT. It's a choice of the Premium Grilled Chicken Ranch BLT or the Premium Crispy Chicken Ranch BLT.

They do have BLT sandwiches in some countries, it's just not called the McBLT. In Canada for example there's a BLT deli sandwich:
