Saw them live in Amsterdam 1972 with the Hungarian band Omega, in 1974 with 'Gong', and once again in Vancouver in 76 if I recall.
If you like Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Hawkwind, etc, then check out Nektar. They merge space rock, and hard rock beautifully, especially on their first 5 albums. 'A Tab in the Ocean', 'Down To Earth', 'Sounds Like This', and 'Remember the Future' are remarkable albums, and rank up there with anything the aforementioned big leaguers ever did in my humble opinion. Their 1st album titled 'Journey to the Centre of the Eye', though a little on the psychedelic side, is a perfect example of hard space rock!

The bands recent reunion concerts seemed to have re-sparked some interest, and spawned a couple DVD's which are great as well.
What are some of you favorite Nektar moments?

Darth - Yeah I think you'll like them. Youtube doesn't really represent the band all that well in the way of videos.
FYA Nektar were actually considered part of the 70's krautrock scene. Though British, they moved to Germany in 1969 where their career flourished.

Sounds a tad like Eloy meets old Floyd meets Hawkwind
Anyway thanks Smiley for yet another band for Me to check into....You come up with the best stuff.

Murky production :( yet that became into to be expected from an imprecise jap 70's Prog band. Very mild experience, Fusion-ish which you will desire to speak. astounding guitar artwork, very fruity sounding with some very Gilmour like sweeping leads and reverb - i anticipate it somewhat is a strat? no professional right here. astounding bass artwork, very accentuating. surely facilitates bringing some bulk to the mild vocals, coming up a searing experience. astounding atmospheric cymbals and double bass artwork. shame it quite is demanding to take heed to it whether it quite creates a lighter atmosphere. And astounding Minimoog and mellotron i'm listening to there. astounding guitar licks and extremely picturesque signature shifts. It creates a exceedingly astounding effect of a breezy shore, the shimmering golden sands cushion the sea waves and a peachy scent feels the crisp air hmmm.... a minimum of it somewhat is my guy made appreciation of it :P and the jap making a song is easily very becoming. there is even a cool Blackmore-ish guitar playing in direction of the top with a booming bass and percussion besides. somewhat enjoyed it, i'm hoping there are extra movies on Youtube. thank you!
