reality TV is too vague of a term. there's a huge difference between American idol and big brother and the bachelor. i absolutely love some and can't stomach others.
i think it's popular because u see people that u wouldn't normally interact with on screen. on big brother, for example, you see inside other people's homes. how they don't wash their hands. how they make controversial comments when they're comfortable. how they clash and insult each other. no body's at their best at all times but you don't get to see that in the real world, only in your own family.they behave in a certain way and exhibit patterns that you can observe and analyze. you basically learn from their behavior and interactions.
i don't get sports, for example. why do you watch sports. it's the same thing. :)

I think it's popular with some people because they want something different? I used to watch Fear Factor. I want to go on the show one day. They are all scripted of course but sometimes they are a refreshing change? I might watch one if it happens to be on but I am not way hooked on them. For a time American Idol was fun but it can get boring. All television is low quality I'd much rather hit the theatre.(or watch a tv movie) If I'm low on cash then utube!
Good question. A good reason to watch it is for you to pretend your there or laugh at people!

Officially, I hate it and there isn't a single one of those shows that I purposely watch. But sometimes it's like a car accident. I'll be bored and flipping around the channels, end up on something insane like that Tila Tiquila show, and end up watching it for an hour. It makes no sane sense and is garbage, but there has to be something about it that grabs us -- not sure what it is.
It's great for producers, tho, since the shows are so cheap to make! No writers or actors (well, not many actors ....) to pay.

That's one of the biggest oxymorons I ever heard, reality TV. The only reality show I watch is American Idol; sadly I just like to laugh at the people with no talent.

I think a big part of it is because we all want to see how far some one will go for their 15 minutes of fame or their small chunk of change they get for doing something dumb.
Or quite simply because theres no damn imagination anymore and we watch reality because the fake stuff is no longer worth watching.

I do sense undesirable for Jon and Kate because of the fact i'm a hundred% specific that each and every little thing that grow to be pronounced approximately them cheating on one yet another grow to be no longer real. On get admission to Hollywood (i think) They interviewed the brother of "Jon's female pal" and additionally you need to quite tell that the toddler grow to be a psycho. He grow to be so crammed with crap. in any case, i think of that united statesa. is so attracted to fact television and customarily Jon and Kate plus 8 because of the fact the those that stay those lives and "unusual". to illustrate: Jon and Kate plus 8: the mummy and father have 8 young toddlers. The Hills: the all human beings is wealthy and artwork exciting jobs the actual international: human beings stay in a great abode and have not any clue who one yet another are and ought to handle one yet another. The Surreal lifestyles: a team of celebrities that ought to stay in a house jointly that are fairly severe upkeep. All of those shows have something this is diverse to the prevalent public eye.

Well, sometimes it's interesting. We did an English essay on reality TV, & they pretty much say it's very entertaining to pry into other people's lives.

I watch some of them.
Why is it that people who don't like reality shows act like the ones who do like them don't know they're scripted. Do you really think we are that stupid???
