I do not eat meat because I think it's gross or that eating any meat is unethical, I don't eat meat because I am against the treatment of most of the animals. I will eat meat if it is PROVEN organic. For example, no matter what they say, Tyson treats their chickens horribly. They have sent undercover agents in there and filmed what they did, and it's not pretty. They pump the chickens with growth hormones, and some of the chicken's bodies grow faster than their legs. They break under their weight and die of starvation inches away from their feeders. I could give many other examples, but I don't think I should, considering this a PG-13 site.
Good luck to you and your question!

I'm not sure about the intelligence part of that but I don't understand how people can be against eating meat either. I am a big softy when it comes to animals (especially mine :)). It's what humans have survived on forever. Survival of the fittest.

I disagree with your premise of it being the reason we have adapted upper level cognitive abilities. I understand how some people may find they can not bring themselves to eat meat because they empathize with the animal. What I don't understand is why SOME judge people that do eat meat so harshly. We are built to eat meat.. our teeth and digestive tracts are designed to process it... we evolved while eating meat.... if someone chooses not to I can respect that .. but I expect the same respect for my choice to be an omnivore.

I'm not a vegetarian, but I've never heard any evidence that there was any connection between eating meat and intelligence. Some of the brightest people I know don't eat meat.

i disagree...
some of the smartest people were vegetarian such as Albert Einstein, and Mark Twain.
also our bodies are naturally made to be vegetarian
our intestines are long and rough unlike meat eater intestines which are shorter and smoother.
we have bare teeth and meat eaters have sharp
our nature in life is to be busy and active unlike meat eaters who are generally lazy such as tigers, bears, lions who usually sleep around all day.
eatingmeat increases our chance of heart disorders by more than 40% and colin cancer by almost 85%
if not colin cancer then your large interstine will definately be afftected negatively.
vegetarians are usually more faster, have more stamina, and have a healthier and cleaner body

Actually, I think being omnivorous gives more of an advantage than being either carni or herbi. It shows a willingness and the ability to adapt and survive to a wider range of circumstances.
