In a heartbeat. Even if it was my worst enemy a.k.a. my mother in law.

This really depends on a lot of things. I know everyone is saying this; I want to really say what it DOES depend on for everyone--not just me.

The first thing is, how aware is the person who would be doing the saving? If he's a murderer he probably won't. There are people who feel they are the only person that matters; for such a person to sacrifice himself like that would be very unlikely.

Then, who is the other person? Do they know them? Does it seem like a life worth saving?

Then, what are the circumstances? How long do they have? What are their other options?

There are so many thousands of factors that go into the decision that it would be hard to predict--for another person.

For myself, probably yes--unless the other person were a criminal or murderer or whatever like that. Even someone like that, though, I would try to help without sacrificing myself.

No. One life is a good as the next, mine is worth the same as anyone else's whether it is me or them it doesn't matter; except of the fact of I love life to much to. I have a short enough life as it is to explore my own mind and the world surrounding me.

Plus: What would it do to someone's psyche to know you died for them, possibly in front of them; the guilt would be unbearable.

I theorize however I can live with seeing someone else die, because I have and I continue to live.

-Just a note: interesting how so many had said yes.

Yes, but I would prefer if I knew the person. It would really suck if I sacrificed my life for a serial killer. But for my friends and family, I would die twice.

Yes, if it was a family member or even our pets, a small child, even if I didn't know them, well, I guess after thinking about it, I would probably do it for almost everyone, even if I didn't know them. But, there are a few I wouldn't do it for, some one from Iraq, who I knew had taken one of our soldiers lives, they can burn, baby burn!!

That is one decision most heroes will tell you that they never asked themselves.

In the split second decision that there was a need for them to intervene, help and they knew they had a slim chance of changing the negative outcome, they did.

It depends on who it was. For one of my parents or my brother or my husband, yes. For anyone else, I'm not so sure I could sacrifice my life for theirs. I guess I'd never know unless I was put in that situation - and hopefully I'll never have to know.

Probably- but if it was saving someone from a knife, instead of diving stupidly into the way, i'd stick out a hand or leg- that way, you don't have a gaping hole in your chest, and they've lost their knife.

It would depend on who the person was. Generally speaking, YES but if the person was being killed was bad or of the sort, probably no.
